6/6 Haunted Halloween: Chloe and planting myrtle (St. Francisville, Louisiana - USA)

According to legend, Chloe was a slave on a plantation house responsible for the myrtle and had a bad habit of snooping the story of the residents to hear conversations through locks. Caught in the act by the master of the place, she had her ear cut off as punishment and was forced to wear a green scarf to cover the wound.

As revenge, she decided to make a cake using leaves of oleander, an extremely poisonous plant common in the region, and gives it to the master ate. Victims of poisoning, however, were the wife and daughter of the man, who ended up dying amidst great agony. Chloe ran away, but was lynched by the slaves of the field because of the great bad reputation that his actions would bring them all.

Fortunately or not, the only historical evidence of what happened - and the resulting haunting - is questionable photo above. Although it can not be real, there are many reports of ghosts at the site, including a little girl who recites voodoo against people who dare to sleep in your room. The place is now home to an inn that offers regular tours for those who want to see the house but is afraid to exploit it without company in the dark.
